Following her dreams of playing for Australia
Saying that Year 5 Student Mackenzie is passionate about Soccer may be an understatement. Her skills and determination have seen her recognised as one to watch. She has been selected to play for both the Central Coast Mariners U 12s and the Juventus Academy (a prestigious Italian club). She also represented NSW in January in the Futsal National Titles.
While playing in the National Titles, she was scouted to play for the Australian U 11 Girls Team, which travelled to Borneo and Malaysia to compete in the Sarawak University Cup earlier this year. They came out undefeated. Her team and coach were so impressed by her ability to perform under pressure and support her teammates that they chose her to Captain the team. Next, she is travelling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to compete in the Kuala Lumpur 5’s Championship, which starts this Saturday. Mackenzie and her Australian U 11 teammates will play against teams from the Australasia region, including Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Hong Kong.
While preparing for this tournament, Mackenzie has just been selected to play in the Under 13’s Australian Team, which will tour Barcelona, Spain, in the European Championships next May. This team is a whole two years older than her, so it will be some tough competition, but we are sure she is up to the challenge. While in Spain, she will also have the opportunity to train with FC Barcelona.
Once back in Australia, Mackenzie will immediately return to preseason training with the Central Coast Mariners and the NSW Supa League for Futsal in preparation for the season opener and National Titles in January.
Mackenzie is beyond excited to be playing and travelling with the Australian team, and so are we at MCC! We wish you all the best and can’t wait to see where your passion takes you next.
