Year 8 explore Aboriginal history
On Friday 22 June, a group of 20 Year 8 students travelled with Mr Andrew Mace, Mrs Marilyn Fraser and Mrs Skye Sadler to Sydney for a unique tour of Indigenous history. Our tour group met Dreamtime Southern X guide, James at The Rocks before then being guided around various historical sites exploring Aboriginal history and what occurred when Governor Arthur Phillip arrived with the First Fleet. The tour visited spots such as Bennelong Point and Barangaroo, and along the way the students learned of the importance of Totems, Welcome to Country and sampled some traditional sources of food that still exist in the city.
These students had a great day and learned a lot about the history, culture and traditions of Aboriginal Australia.
