JUMP for Ghana
To celebrate Mary MacKillop Feast Day in Week 3 this term, all students will be asked to bring in one item of donation to our Ghana Appeal. This fundraiser not only invites the entire K-12 college community, including the Parish, but also the wider Warnervale community. Year 8 JUMP students will be delivering flyers to the local area to help promote this cause.
Each house has been allocated a category:
Fitzroy – Toiletries (roll-on deodorant, bars of soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes – no liquids)
Penola – Hats, new or used but in good condition
Gesu – Stationery (pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, blank paper with lines or exercise books)
Alma – Shoes in children’s sizes (new or used but in good condition)
Temuka – T-shirts in various children’s sizes
Kincumber – Children’s books for reading of all levels, new or used but in good condition, reading or writing.
Members of the public and Parish will have the option to donate any item from our list to the Church during Mass times or to the Front Office, whereas our student donations have been sorted into Houses and can be brought to school on Wednesday 8 August. Once sorted by our JUMP students, these goods will be personally delivered to a number of schools in Ghana. This cause aims to provide much needed resources and educational items to children and their families in remote and underprivileged communities in Africa.
As Mary MacKillop’s motto goes, “Never see a need without doing something about it”.
