Junior Theatre Celebration
Thirty of our secondary Performing Arts students joined over 800 students from other schools around the nation at the Junior Theatre Celebration Australia event at Civic Theatre Newcastle between 26-27 October. Over the two day event, our students performed an extract from The Little Mermaid Junior for adjudication, culminating in an award for Outstanding Choreography. Our students participated in workshops covering music, acting and dance, performing in front of industry experts including the wonderful John Foreman (conductor and musician extraordinaire) and Erin James (choreographer). Putting their ability to the test, the students gained valuable feedback to build on their skills. The group also got to meet Lucy Durack (of Wicked and Legally Blonde fame) which was a special treat for all.
We are immensely proud of our merfolk and would like to thank our staff and parent chaperones for their support over the weekend. You can see part of this brilliant performance at the upcoming Christmas Concert at The Entrance on Thursday 13 December (more details to come).
