NSWCCC Hockey Championships

For the first time MacKillop sent a group of very keen boys to the NSWCCC Hockey Championships at Newcastle on 22-23 August 2018.

After several training sessions at school they were rearing to go in our first game against St. Edwards. The boys played to the game plan and were successful in beating St. Edwards 2-0.

In our second game we came up against a very experienced team of St. Clare’s Taree. St Clare’s led 2-0 at half time and after a half time talk, the boys kept their positions and came out in the second half and kept them scoreless.

A quarter final awaited us on Thursday morning against a very experienced and successful team in McAuley Catholic College, Grafton, who scored the first goal of the match. Although we lost 4-0, our boys kept their heads high and played with great sportsmanship on behalf of MacKillop. The boys are already talking about further success in 2019.

Mrs Mylchreest would like to thank our co-captains, James Martin and Tristan Bryan, for their leadership on the field, and Mr Mick Jones for his assistance in preparing the boys and at the carnival itself.
