Proud of Tiarne – IPROWD!
Tiarne Eckford, from our HSC Class of 2018, was recently acknowledged for completing the IPROWD TAFE course during her HSC exams last year. The Indigenous Police Recruitment Our Way Delivery program (IPROWD) supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join the Police Force or any other Justice and Emergency Service Agencies. The program is designed to prepare students for the University Certificate in Workforce Essentials (UCWE), the Associate Degree in Policing Practice offered by Charles Sturt University at the NSW Police Academy.
Tiarne’s determination to juggle studying the HSC and the IPROWD program means she is one step closer to her goal of becoming a Police Officer. Tiarne was awarded for the completion of this program by Newcastle Police District Commander, Superintendent Brett Greentree, with a group of supporters from MacKillop Catholic College and the Catholic Schools Office to congratulate her.
Tiarne will take up an unsworn position working with NSW Police before entering the Police Academy in Goulburn. She wishes to pursue a career as an Aboriginal Police Officer in the Child Protection Unit, to help children in community that are victims of abuse and trauma.
Congratulations, Tiarne, we are so proud of you and wish you continued success in achieving your dream. Or should that be…’soon-to-be Probationary Constable’!
