Seniors Mass and Afternoon Tea
Each year at MacKillop, we celebrate the rite of passage for our senior cohort with a Mass and afternoon tea. During the Mass, Fr. Philip, in his homily, encouraged our students to ‘aspire to make a difference’ not just for themselves as individuals but also for their friends, family, and community. Our student leaders then presented the Year 11 cohort with their MCC seniors’ badges, which Father had blessed during the Mass. Just as they received their badges last year, they, in turn, passed down the honour.
At our afternoon tea, we welcomed back our College leaders from 2024, Ashleigh and Manuel, along with our DUX, Ryan, and top ATAR students Alana, Corey, Dana, and top Diocesan HSC students Logan, Kavia, and Tamika. In Mr Lynch’s address, we acknowledged the importance of this event as not just a tradition but aspirational, as we celebrate the class that came before and look to all that the class of 2025 can achieve.
Our College Dux, Ryan, provided valuable insights into the HSC. He spoke about the significance of organisation and scheduling studies and assessments but not to forget your friends and family; they will always be there for you.
We invited alumni Mrs Beeson and Mr Langbridge to speak to our Class of 2025. They emphasised the importance of setting goals and seizing every opportunity and experience that MCC and post-school life have to offer to get closer to those goals. Our MacKillop community is incredibly fortunate to have such passionate teachers, and we take great pride in their individual journeys that brought them both back to the College.
After the formalities, our Year 12 Class of 2025 had the opportunity to come together and share a meal with each other, our special guests, and our leaders as they contemplated their futures and the possibilities that lay ahead of them.
