Year 11 & 12 Visual Art Workshop with Abdul Abdullah
Year 11 and 12 Visual arts students were treated to a unique opportunity to spend the day with five-time Archibald Prize finalist, Abdul Abdullah.
Working across portraiture, photography and painting, Abdul uses his experiences of growing up Muslim in the suburbs of Perth, and coming of age in a post–September 11 world, to expose the stereotypes which have marginalised Muslim youth today.
Abdul’s visit was a unique opportunity for students to enhance their learning about political art and extend their artistic techniques. His work will also be used as a case study for the HSC. What a way for year 11 and 12 Visual Art students to wrap up the term!
A HUGE thanks to Abdul for taking the time to speak with and help our students.
